Interior Brightwork

The sanding has started. The old varnish is blowing off the mahogany interior. The grain exposed is beautiful. The varnish had aged and turned black, obscuring the natural mahogany colour.

Once all of the wood is nuded, a decision will be made to stain it slightly darker or leave it natural with just the varnish to add a golden glow. Originally it was stained a mid-brown with "Harvest Gold" formica on the galley side doors and drawers, which has been painted a few times over the years, including a lime green colour.
