A GOOD TRADE
Sudbury Saturday Night (SS Night) arrived at Granville Island on Wednesday 21 September for a sea trial with Dr Doug from Blue Ocean Yacht Services (BOYS). After the run Doug estimated her a solid six and with minimal work she would be a ten.
Getting the nod she was lifted for an inspection of her running gear, which was found to be fine. Some quick negotiations dockside and the deal was done.
She was a bit tired, sun burnt and stained along the waterline, overall she needed a day at the spa. Being an early all glass boat she has a thick layer of quality gelcoat, unlike modern production boats today, unless you buy one of the top of the line Tiaras or such.
Oxidation remover was first used to clean the fiberglass, Interlux Heavy Duty Stain Remover was then applied liberally all over her hull and topsides. A quick bubble bath and on with the cleaner wax combo. Finally a coat of paste wax and for the blue stripe some colour restorer was buffed in and topped with the paste wax.
The shine returned and she is bright and clean as a whistle.
